So, this morning
while lost in a dream
I gave away my pen
because I wasn't asked for money.
The other day,
I gave away $5
because someone didn't have
enough money for a ticket
to a station not on the Caltrain line.
Oh, please, keep it.
Larry stands on my street corner,
now and then,
and asks for donations for women
and children and I give $10 in
exchange for a tax id.
Larry asks God to bless me and
I thank him and smile sheepishly.
When I give, I give the lie you asked for.
